When I Grow Up, I Want to Be a Fireman!

Every day Francis' idea of his perfect future occupation seems to change.  Today he saw a farmer cutting grass in a big tractor in the field across the street from us and insisted that is what he wants to be when he grows up.  I reminded him yesterday that he wanted to be a fireman.  He said that he changed his mind and that he just wants to be a dad and a tractor driver.  Previously, he told us he wants to be a priest and a dad -- so, Byzantine priest perhaps?! :)

On Sunday we visited the Erlauftaler Feuerwehrmuseum (Fire Brigade Museum) about 25 minutes from our house in the town of Purgstall an der Erlauf.

It was so cool to see the historical development of the Lower Austrian fire service.  We saw the previously used hand-, cart- and horse-drawn wagons, aka, firetrucks!  As well as wooden syringes (that look like big squirt guns) and many other historic fire-fighting pieces of equipment.  We then got to explore and sit in some of the current firetrucks.  The firemen from our surrounding area were actually having an in-service day, so many were around to see Francis sporting his (somewhat small) fireman outfit from the States!  :)
