Preparing for Austria

The hills are alive with the sound of...the Kissingers coming!

Two months ago, we learned that our family will be moving to Gaming, Austria at the end of July.  At the time we found out Brian will be the Director of Student Life for Franciscan University's study abroad program, our son was three weeks old.  To say the last several weeks (with little sleep and travel plans that took us from our home in Virginia to California, Ohio, and Iowa) have been a whirlwind - is an understatement.

Our family of 4 (we also have a 2 year old daughter) will leave for Austria this coming Thursday.  We have six suit cases, two car seats, a double-stroller and 4 boxes of clothes and miscellaneous items (including a few familiar toys and books) that we'll be bringing with us.

Sadly, we won't be starring on HGTV's House Hunters International.  We'll move into a furnished townhouse provided by the University.  I've never seen a picture of it.  I asked my husband to take a few when we was over there a month ago acquiring his work visa - but instead he sent me a picture taken in front of the townhouse looking forward - at a undeniably beautiful view (see below!) - but not what I wanted to help me envision our new home.  He did bring me a very large Milka chocolate bar though, so that kind of made up for it.

They speak German in Austria.  We do not currently know any German.  But we do have Rosetta Stone and DinoLingo German for kids.  I've been watching a lot of DingoLingo lately...and all I've really learned is baby and zebra.  I hope there are a lot of baby zebras where we're going.

Pray for us on this new adventure!
AMDG,
the Kissingers
