This is our third Christmas in Austria and while we definitely miss seeing family over the holiday break we enjoy getting to travel "locally" as a family.
We flew from Vienna to Lisbon and then took a bus to Fatima to see where Our Lady appeared to the shepherd children/now saints. We stayed in Fatima for two nights and then returned to Lisbon. We spent four nights in Lisbon. One day we took a train to Santarem to see the Eucharistic Miracle. The other days we were in Lisbon. It was a really beautiful city - with lots of fun things for the kids to do! Here's what we did:
Rode the famous Tram 28 through the city
Played at Jardim da Estrela - one of Lisbon's most popular parks
Visited the Basilica do Sagrado Coracao de Jesus (Sacred Heart of Jesus) across from the park
Got a snack at Mercado de Campo de Ourique
Visited the giraffes and other animals at the Lisbon Zoo
Loved Lisbon's Oceanarium - one of Europe's largest aquariums
Rode the Cable Car along the waterfront
Ate beautiful ice cream at the shopping center
Enjoyed beautiful sites around town - the weather was in the mostly in the 50s!
Airplane ride home (as on all European flights, lap infants are required to wear a seat belt that connects to the adult's seat belt)
The End!!
Wow! Amazing pictures! It seems you had a great time in Lisbon. I am travelling to Lisbon next weekend. Fortunately, I have received my visa for Portugal this morning.
